Learning to navigate relationships is not always common sense. Only after joining the Sexual Health Education Program at UC Berkeley, did Avry understand what a healthy relationship looked like. Since then, she has devoted her time to helping others gain a heightened awareness of the signs of abuse and violence within relationships and motivate them to engage in self-love.
To further study the links between sexuality, relationships, and body image, she earned a master’s degree at San Francisco State University (SFSU) in 2017. For her thesis project, she created and facilitated a workshop designed to improve SFSU students’ body image and inspire more body diversity acceptance. In her current role at Health Connected, she hopes to inspire empowerment in young people so they can make healthy decisions about their personal boundaries and their sexuality.
When she is not engaging young minds in critical discussions in the classroom, she loves to indoor rock climb and do acroyoga in the park.
