A message from Abi
It is with a full heart that I am reaching out to you to announce I will be stepping down as Executive Director of Health Connected this summer.
It has been a pleasure and honor to serve as Health Connected’s Executive Director and work alongside a fantastic team for the last nine years. There have been many exciting moments, occasional challenges, and many opportunities for learning and growth. At every step along the way, I have been surrounded by an exceptional team of staff members who are deeply committed to our work and the communities with which we partner. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, especially through the challenges of the last two years. And I’m especially grateful for the incredible relationships I have been able to build with many of you.
Among Health Connected’s many accomplishments during my tenure, I am especially proud that our team:
Supported over 400,000 young people, engaged 12,000 parents and caregivers, and trained 4,500 education professionals
Developed three new sexual health curricula tailored to serve older high school students, students in special education programs, and young people who are most marginalized in education - those in foster care or in the justice system
Responded quickly to the pandemic to create a unique online offering that puts live interactive instruction, student safety, and family engagement front and center
Increased the number of school districts we support by 600% from 20 districts in 2013 to 130 districts today
As our organization enters into its next stage of development, I’m excited to pass the baton to someone with fresh eyes and new ideas. Transitions can be challenging, but Health Connected is in an incredibly strong position and I’m very confident that we’ll not only navigate this process, but use it as a launchpad for new and exciting initiatives. The Board of Directors is currently working with our search partner, The Arora Collective, to hire an amazing leader in the coming months. Each of you have played an important role in our organizational story. I hope you’ll consider participating in our next chapter by sharing the job description widely.
From the beginning of my tenure at Health Connected, I have been fortunate to work with all of you – the incredible volunteers, donors, educators, partners, and families that drive our work forward. Thank you for believing in our mission and for believing in me. If you have any questions or would like to connect, please do reach out by responding to this email.
With gratitude, Abi Karlin-Resnick Executive Director
